The ruins of this silo is located in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. This kind of abandonment is all too common in the rural landscape, especially in the Northeast where small farms predominate. These farms feel numerous pressures stemming from the economy of agriculture to the land use changes brought on by an increasingly suburbanized rural landscape. The degree of weathering and rustiness of this dilapidated silo indicates that the change at this farm occurred many years ago. What's interesting, but not seen in the photograph, is the presence of an enduring home that is still lived and an adjoining field of hay.
