The white flowers of this Dogwood Tree plays off the white stone of the urn monument. This relationship between plants and grave site monuments is played out throughout Mt. Auburn Cemetery, creating an uplifting garden-like atmosphere. After its creation in the mid-19th century, Mt. Auburn became the model for many park-like cemeteries around the country.
